- (a) Radiology services furnished at a frontier extended stay clinic must be provided as direct services by clinic staff who have been trained, and are competent, in the proper and safe use of radiological equipment.
- (b) Radiological services may be performed only upon the order of the attending physician or practitioner.
- (c) If an x-ray examination is to be provided to a patient, a request by the attending physician or practitioner for the examination must contain a diagnosis or a tentative diagnosis, or a concise statement of the reasons for the x-ray examination.
- (d) A report of a radiological examination must be filed in the patient's medical record and maintained in the radiology unit.
- (e) The clinic must maintain patient x-rays for at least five years.
- (f) The clinic must ensure that individuals who are employed or involved in providing radiological services or who may be exposed to radiation wear devices that monitor radiation exposure.
- (g) The clinic must keep records identifying employees who have been exposed to radiation and the amount of exposure for each employee.
- (h) A clinic that uses x-ray equipment must ensure that the equipment is calibrated, used, and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The clinic must document calibration and maintenance.
