(a) A candidate for school board office must file a declaration of candidacy. The declaration of candidacy must be in the form prescribed by the director and must include
- (1) the candidate's name;
- (2) the candidate's residence address;
- (3) the candidate's mailing address, if different from the residence address;
- (4) the designation of the office and seat being sought;
- (5) a statement that the candidate is qualified for the office that he or she seeks;
- (6) the candidate's name, as the candidate wants it to appear on the ballot;
(7) identification, in the form of the candidate's
- (A) voter registration number;
- (B) social security number or last four digits of the candidate's social security number;
- (C) date of birth;
- (D) Alaska driver's license number; or
- (E) Alaska State Identification number;
- (8) the candidate's phone number, if available; and
- (9) the candidate's signature.
- (b) declaration of candidacy must be filed by delivering it in person, by electronic transmission, or by mail to the director of elections or to an election supervisor of a regional elections office in Anchorage, Wasilla, Kenai, Fairbanks, Nome, or Juneau. The deadline for filing a declaration of candidacy is the first Friday of August of the year in which the election is held for the office sought. A declaration must be received by the close of business on the deadline day if it is delivered in person, by mail, or by electronic transmission.
- (c) Repealed 1/1/93.
- (d) In this section, "electronic transmission" means transmission by electronic mail or facsimile.
- (e) Notice of withdrawal of candidacy must be made in writing over the candidate's signature not later than 48 days before the election.
