- (a) The use of any explosive or toxicant for taking any fish in the waters of Alaska is prohibited, except that a shaft tipped with an explosive charge, commonly known as a bangstick or powerhead, or a firearm may be used on board a vessel in salt water to kill a fish caught with legal gear.
