(a) The following waters are identified as water of frequent high abundance of king salmon:
- (1) waters off the west coast of Baranof Island south of the latitude of Point Lauder at 56° 32.46' N. lat., and north and west of Redfish Cape at 56° 18.63' N. lat., 134° 53.15' W. long., to a distance of one nautical mile from the shore;
- (2) waters off the Kruzof Island shore south and west of the longitude of Shoals Point at 135° 38.03' W. long., west to Cape Edgecumbe at 56° 59.89' N. lat., 135° 51.48' W. long., and from Cape Edgecumbe north to the latitude of Cape Georgiana at 57° 19.75' N. lat., to a distance of one nautical mile from the shore;
- (3) waters off the west coast of Yakobi Island south of the latitude of Yakobi Rock at 58° 05.17' N. lat., and north and west of Cape Cross at 57° 54.70' N. lat., 136° 33.59' W. long., to a distance of one nautical mile from the main shoreline of Yakobi Island;
- (4) waters of Palma Bay, Dixon Harbor, Torch Bay, Murk Bay, and Graves Harbor east of a line beginning at the mouth of Kaknau Creek located approximately one nautical mile northeast of Icy Point at 58° 23.90' N. lat., 137° 04.52' W. long., to Astrolabe Point at 58° 20.50' N. lat., 136° 54.07' W. long., then to a point on the south shore of Dixon Harbor at 58° 19.95' N. lat., 136° 51.22' W. long., then to Venisa Point at 58° 18.50' N. lat., 136° 49.50' W. long., then to the westernmost tip of Polka Point at 58° 13.83' N. lat., 136° 42.48' W. long.; and
(5) the outer banks of the Fairweather Grounds bounded by the following lines:
- (A) on the north by a line extending from 58° 46.63' N. lat., 138° 54.82' W. long. to 58° 24.55' N. lat., 139° 48.98' W. long.;
- (B) on the south by a line extending from 58° 15.83' N. lat., 137° 21.80' W. long. to 57° 50.08' N. lat., 138° 20.03' W. long.;
- (C) on the shoreward side by a line extending from 58° 46.63' N. lat., 138° 54.82' W. long. to 58° 15.83' N. lat., 137° 21.80' W. long.;
- (D) on the seaward side by a line extending from 58° 24.55' N. lat., 139° 48.98' W. long. to 57° 50.08' N. lat., 138° 20.03' W. long.
(b) The provisions of this section apply for the purposes of
- (1) slowing down the king salmon harvest rate during the king salmon retention fishery; and
- (2) reducing the number of king salmon incidentally hooked and released during a king salmon nonretention fishery, as provided in 5 AAC 29.100(c)(3).
