1. (a) Unless otherwise provided by emergency order, herring may be taken during the A, B, and C sac roe season from April 1 through February 28 as follows:

   1. (1) fishing periods for purse seines are from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.;
   2. (2) from April 2 through June 30, the fishing periods for gillnets are from 12:00 p.m. on even-numbered days until 12:00 p.m. on odd-numbered days;
   3. (3) in the A season, herring may be taken from April 1 through June 30;
   4. (4) in the B season, herring may be taken from July 1 through October 25;
   5. (5) in the C season, herring may be taken from December 1 through January 10;
   6. (6) after April 30, a CFEC permit holder must register with the department before participating in the sac roe herring fishery.

2. (b) Unless otherwise provided by emergency order, herring may be taken during the food and bait season from October 26 through February 28 as follows:

   1. (1) in the A season, herring may be taken from October 26 through November 30;
   2. (2) in the B season, herring may be taken from January 11 through February 28;
   3. (3) a CFEC permit holder must register with the department before participating in the food and bait fishery.
