- (a) Salmon, trout and char may only be taken under authority of a subsistence fishing permit.
- (b) Except as provided in (d) of this section, the department shall not issue a permit for the taking of steelhead trout.
- (c) Salmon, trout, or char taken incidentally by gear operated under the terms of a subsistence permit for salmon are legally taken and possessed for subsistence purposes. A holder of a subsistence salmon permit must report any salmon, trout, or char taken in this manner on the permit holder's permit calendar.
- (d) Notwithstanding (b) of this section, the department shall issue subsistence permits for the taking of steelhead trout in the Situk and Ahrnklin Rivers, and it shall manage that directed fishery toward an annual guideline harvest level of 300 steelhead trout.
