(a) A school or school district that applies for an artists in schools grant must either select the resident artist from the council's artists in schools teaching artist roster or submit to the council the name of an artist to conduct the residency program who is not included in the teaching artist roster. The council will consider and approve an artist whose name is not included in the teaching artist roster to conduct the proposed residency only if
- (1) the artist proposed for selection works in a medium or arts discipline not represented in the teaching artist roster; or
- (2) an artist included in the teaching artist roster who works in the medium or discipline selected by the school for the workshop is not available during the scheduled time of the residency.
(b) A school or a school district approved for an artists in schools grant must agree to
- (1) host the artist in residency for at least two weeks;
- (2) sponsor at least one two-hour workshop for teachers and one community activity as part of the residency;
- (3) schedule a teacher to be present at all times while the artist is working with students;
- (4) schedule studio time for the artist into each school day;
- (5) provide adequate work facilities and appropriate equipment and supplies for the artist; and
- (6) compensate the artist according to the guidelines established by the council in the applicable guidelines and application form described in 20 AAC 30.517(a)(1).
(c) An artist approved for inclusion in the artists in schools program must agree to
- (1) be available for a residency at a school for a minimum period of two weeks;
(2) provide during a residency
- (A) at least 20 hours a week working with students; and
- (B) at least one two-hour workshop for teachers and one community activity as part of the residency; and
- (3) repealed 9/7/2002.
