- (a) If a problem driver, without good cause, fails to appear for a driver improvement interview, the department may notify and suspend the driver's license for a period of one year, or until the driver appears for the interview, whichever occurs first.
- (b) If a problem driver does not comply with the recommendations of the hearing officer made at the driver improvement interview, the department may notify and suspend the driver's license for a period of one year, or until the driver complies with the recommendations, whichever occurs first.
- (c) A suspension of a driver's license under (a) or (b) of this section is effective 30 days after the date of notice.
- (d) For the purposes of this section, "good cause" means circumstances beyond the control of a person, including a physical incapacity requiring hospitalization, that caused the person's failure to appear for a driver improvement interview.
