1. (a) A minimum score of 80 is required to pass the school bus driver endorsement written examination. The examination is comprised of questions concerning

   1. (1) traffic laws; and
   2. (2) guidelines for school bus drivers as set out by the Department of Education and Early Development in the latest edition of the Alaska School Bus Driver's Manual, adopted by reference in 4 AAC 27.110.

2. (b) The driving examination must be administered in the type of vehicle that the applicant is to operate, and the vehicle must be furnished by the applicant, the applicant's employer, or a certified driving school. The examination must consist of at least the following maneuvers:

   1. (1) with engine off, starting engine and moving into the rest of the required maneuvers;
   2. (2) two right-hand turns and two left-hand turns;
   3. (3) if practicable, a railroad crossing stop;
   4. (4) movement through intersections controlled by signs or signals, unless signs or signals are not available in the area of the examination.

3. (c) If it is impractical for the department to administer the driving test, the department may enter into an agreement to conduct the driving examination with

   1. (1) an employer of school bus drivers; or
   2. (2) other persons acceptable to the department.

4. (d) An approved examiner must certify the applicant's driving skills proficiency by

   1. (1) scoring the applicant's performance on the department's examination form; and
   2. (2) signing the examination form with the examiner's full signature, identification number, and the title "examiner."
