The owner or operator shall maintain records in accordance with 18 AAC 78.056 that are capable of demonstrating compliance with closure requirements under this section. The results of the site characterization or assessment required in 18 AAC 78.090 must be maintained for at least three years after completion of a permanent closure or change-in-service in one of the following ways:

1. (1) by the owner or operator who took the UST out of service;
2. (2) by the current owner or operator of the UST site; or
3. (3) by mailing these records to the department if they cannot be maintained at the closed facility.
