(a) The purpose of this chapter is to safeguard public health by establishing sanitation requirements for
- (1) barbering, hairdressing, manicuring, esthetics, body piercing, tattooing, and permanent cosmetic coloring schools and shops licensed by the board under 12 AAC 09; and
- (2) facilities that perform only ear piercing with an ear piercing instrument.
- (b) Except as provided in (c) of this section, the requirements of this chapter apply to an owner or operator of a school or shop described in (a) of this section.
- (c) The requirements of this chapter, except for 18 AAC 23.360, do not apply to a facility that performs only ear piercing with an ear piercing instrument.
