- (a) The International Residential Code of 2018, with Alaska-specific amendments dated November 28, 2018, which are adopted by reference, shall constitute the residential building code for buildings used for residential purposes containing four or fewer dwelling units. This residential building code is applicable to buildings whose construction began on or after January 1, 2019, and to a residential unit that is not located within a municipality that has an approved municipal building code as described in 15 AAC 150.030.
(b) The version of the International Residential Code, with Alaska-specific amendments, applicable as the residential building code for buildings used for residential purposes containing four or fewer dwelling units shall be determined by the date construction began, as determined by the date the foundation began installation.
