In this chapter

1. (1) "client" means the person who owns or is responsible for the care of an animal;
2. (2) "department" means the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development;
3. (3) "patient" means the animal or animals under the care of a veterinarian;
4. (4) "division" means the division of corporations, business and professional licensing in the department;
5. (5) "board" means the Board of Veterinary Examiners established under AS 08.98.010.

6. (6) "veterinary facility" or "veterinary medical facility"

   1. (A) means any premises or facility where the practice of veterinary medicine is performed, including a mobile clinic, temporary clinic, outpatient clinic, veterinary hospital or clinic, emergency facility, specialty facility, referral facility, or veterinary center;

   2. (B) does not include the premises of

      1. (i) a veterinary client;
      2. (ii) a research facility; or
      3. (iii) the United States armed forces.
