In this chapter and in AS 08.84

1. (1) "board" means the State Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Board;
2. (2) "department" means the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development;
3. (3) "licensed" has the same meaning as registered, certified, or a similar term used by another licensing jurisdiction;
4. (4) "NBCOT" means the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy;
5. (5) "HIPAA compliance" means compliance with 42 U.S.C. 300gg (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996);

6. (6) "interactive telecommunication system"

   1. (A) means audio and video equipment that permits a two-way, real time communication between a therapist licensed under AS 08.84 and this chapter and a patient who is located at a distant site in the state which is not in close proximity of the therapist;

   2. (B) does not include

      1. (i) electronic mail;
      2. (ii) facsimile machine; or
      3. (iii) telephone;
7. (7) "telerehabilitation" means the practice of therapy by a person licensed as a therapist under AS 08.84 and this chapter using an interactive telecommunication system.
8. (8) "CAPTE" means the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education;
9. (9) "ACOTE" means the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.
