1. (a) The board may grant a temporary permit to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse to an applicant who is currently certified as an advanced practice registered nurse in another state or jurisdiction with requirements at least equivalent to those of this state.

2. (b) The board may grant a nonrenewable permit to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse to an applicant who meets the requirements of 12 AAC 44.400(a)(1), (2), and (4) - (7); and

   1. (1) has been accepted to take the next specialty board examination; or
   2. (2) is awaiting certification results.
3. (c) A temporary permit granted under (a) of this section is nonrenewable and is valid for a period not to exceed six months.
4. (d) Repealed 10/3/2011.
5. (e) A nonrenewable permit granted under (b)(2) of this section is valid only until the applicant receives notice of certification results.
6. (f) The holder of a nonrenewable permit as an advanced practice registered nurse who fails to successfully pass the certification examination on the first attempt shall surrender the holder's nonrenewable permit to the board not later than 48 hours after receiving notification of failure.
