(a) When making a determination as to whether a licensee provided reasonable and appropriate treatment or services or charged reasonable and appropriate costs of treatment to a patient, the utilization review committee appointed under 12 AAC 16.400 may rely on the guidelines, standards, or recommendations of the following organizations accepted by the board:
- (1) Alaska Worker's Compensation Board;
- (2) American Chiropractic Association;
- (3) Canadian Chiropractic Association;
- (4) Council on Chiropractic Education;
- (5) Croft Guidelines published by the Spine Research Institute of San Diego;
- (6) Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards;
- (7) repealed 9/7/2012;
- (8) International Chiropractors Association;
- (9) National Board of Chiropractic Examiners;
- (10) World Chiropractic Alliance;
- (11) World Federation of Chiropractic;
- (12) a successor organization to an organization specified in this subsection.
- (b) The utilization review committee shall take into consideration the differences between the standards and guidelines of the organizations listed in (a) of this section when making a determination as to whether the care provided by the licensee was provided in a manner required of a reasonably competent practitioner acting under the same or similar circumstances.
