Return of original recorded documents

- (a) After a document is recorded, the original of the document must be returned either to the person identified on the document under AS 40.17.030 or to the person who presented it. For a document submitted electronically, after the document is recorded, the document may be returned either by electronic means to the person that submitted it or as a paper document to the person identified on the document under AS 40.17.030.
- (b) If a document is filed and recorded, it shall be processed as a recorded document. However, the original becomes the property of the state. The state will permanently retain recorded plats of survey, subdivision plats, and records of survey.
