The plaintiff, at the time of the trial ninety-two years of age, appears to have recovered alimony at the rate of $600 per year awarded her on May 23, 1867, in a judgment of divorce by default against her husband, Cornelius Henry Van Ness, who died June 25, 1911. On May 24, 1867, she was preparing to sail the next day for Europe, and did so sail in company with Mr. Parsons, then about twenty years of age, and her daughter, Alice, then about nineteen years of age.
