Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme
Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.
The defendant’s contention that the Supreme Court committed reversible error in permitting the People to elicit evidence of prior bad acts involving the complainant and the defendant is without merit. The evidence was properly admitted as relevant background material to enable the jury to understand the defendant’s relationship with the complainant, to explain the issuance of an order of protection, to establish the defendant’s motive and intent in the commission of the crimes, and to establish the complainant’s state of mind (see People v Alvino,
