- In August 2015 Colleen Eltibi signed an adoption contract and paid the fee to adopt a dog, Albus, from the Madison County Humane Society; the contract identified Eltibi as the adopter and contained return/transfer restrictions.
- Kristin Kocsis did not sign the adoption paperwork, but after Eltibi and Kocsis ended their romantic relationship they agreed informally that Kocsis could have scheduled visitation/time with Albus.
